NEXT... another FAIL
Yesterday I had the honor of visiting NEXT Brussels. This is an event that claims to be the biggest game and consumer electronic fair in Belgium. As I have had my wonderfull gaming experiences (My only reason of having a spare Windblows): Counterstrike, Half-Life 1&2 and others. I decided to visit this fair with 2 buddy's (Tom, a games and electronics lover and Yannick, a 'bit' of a WOW addict.)
When we arrived at the EXPO in Brussels our reaction should have been... hmmmm 4 euros for parking. No WAY... and then you start the procedure of changing direction and find a bar. But we were still hopefull and continued our journey. During the walk to the entrance we thought of what we might see...
- The wonderful bootbabes, which would provide a massive testosterone rise in our body.
- The Premieres of some games
- Shows which would blow you of your feet
- The feeling of coming back home in a game community
This is what we hoped for... what we got follows:
After entering the expo and passing the incredibly unfriendly securitydudes we arrived at the hallway, palace one of the two. We saw a 1/3 empty hall way with game consoles, plasma screens and gamers. We strolled down the building looking at several boots only to see, gaming audiences, gaming audiences and gaming audiences. We saw some bootbabes which were worthy of calling bootbabes (007 is a lucky man) but most of the expositions were either unimpressive or so chaotically built any logic was difficult to find.
We walked for over 2 hours in these halls looking for something to slightly impress us:
- The giant Chief PS3 screen of 20 *6 meters
- The Robotmachines in the Pitt...
Things I will remember:
- Guy playing with a TuxDroid using Windows Vista (I asked the bugger WTF he was doing...:))
- Micro$oft apparently makes a security suite... SWEET :P
- Irritating character of a game trying to perform stuff I don't want to experience...
Conclusion:
We saw nothing interesting enough to impress us... Maybe we expected too much, but next year I don't think I will attend this event. This event is definitely not worth 14 euro's and although probably hardcore games have liked this event. I found it quite disappointing....
