The new, uh, oh, no actually the oldnew version... :)
Today I was kindly invited by my ex-collegue and dear friend Gryp to the presentation of the New Golf in a local garage.
The presentation was marvelous, nice drinks, friendly people, even local dishes and of course alot of vehicles... When I came in although I saw the Golf and my first feeling was that this is not a Golf Mk 6 but a Golf Mk5,5. Maybe this is an unjust feeling and it could be that the golf has a totally new suspension and engine...
But again as it was a presentation I had not the honor to drive with it and the outside was just... well I didn't have the wow feeling I had when seeing for example the Honda Civic and not the 'cute' feeling when seeing the new Fiesta.
The inside has had a rework but it was shocking to see the interior quality difference between the Trendline and the Highline. Of course the price tag surely has something to do with it...
After eating the half of the hamsandwich my gf got from the friendly people of VW. I saw the Sirocco and this made me think: WOW. The car is nicely designed, the interior feeling is good (Although the aircon dash is the same of the GOlf mk5 (WTF)). But again :) It has it good sides and it bad sides. It looks certainly like a drivers car. This is not a family saloon. The interior felt like a glove and I guess this is a good feeling for a sporty car. I only lacked the nice dashboard of the Golf mk6 (it's almost exact as the one in the Mk5). So probably the Sirocco was designed just before the Mk6 (I guess).
Well I didn't drive the cars, but the outside conclusion is...
I have the feeling more effort went in the Sirocco and that the Golf was more something as a quickly filled in replacement for the previous version. The Mk 5,5 is probably a nice car... but well I dunno...
